After eight months of hard work, we are very excited to show you what’s new in 1Blocker for you. We improved the app across all platforms — 1Blocker is available for iPhone, iPad, and Mac. We are also making some basic features available for free, but more on that later.

What’s New In 1Blocker

Simple Mode / Advanced Mode

New Interface

This is the first and most obvious thing you’ll notice after installing the new 1Blocker for Mac.

The new design simplifies the app even more for regular users (Simple Mode), while still providing full customization abilities for power users (Advanced Mode).

It’s now super easy to install and turn on 1Blocker. Just flip a few switches.

Better Content Blocking

Safari content blocker extensions have a limit of 50,000 rules per extension, which is not nearly enough. 1Blocker was one of the first iOS apps that incorporated multiple extensions, one for each category. That allowed us to have up to 400,000 rules.

Multiple Extensions for Improved Blocking

We are bringing the same architecture to macOS now, making it on par with 1Blocker for iOS and significantly better than other apps with just a single extension.

New Safari Button Extension

We have redesigned the Safari Button Extension to be more modern and added powerful features you had been asking for.

For the first time, a native content blocker for Safari can show you what was blocked on the current webpage. Now you can clearly see how many trackers and ads were blocked on a site. Oh, and it supports Dark Mode too.

See What’s Blocked

As far as I know, 1Blocker is the first Safari content blocker in the Mac App Store to support this feature.

Turn off Blocking for Some Sites

It’s important to be able to turn off blocking when you need it. For example, you may want to support your favorite blog by allowing ads, but still want to block tracking and social buttons on that site. With the new 1Blocker, you can do that.

Advanced Customization

Powerful Editors for the Pros

1Blocker has always been a highly customizable content blocker, providing the possibility of creating powerful custom rules. It allows you to create custom rules that block any URL by providing a regular expression or hide any element by CSS. It also lets you block cookies.

These advanced editors are also available on iOS.

Frequent Cloud Updates

To adapt our content blocking to the constantly-changing Internet, we update our built-in rules frequently now.

We use thousands of open-source filter rules, such as EasyList and EasyPrivacy, that we convert to Safari’s content blocker format. Our powerful cloud service will build and send you these rules twice a week.

This feature is available for both macOS and iOS.

Basic Features Available for Free

We are making basic features of 1Blocker for iPhone, iPad, and Mac available for free, including the ability to block trackers and whitelist sites with full iCloud Sync, so that more users can start protecting their privacy online.

The new 1Blocker is already available for you to download.
