We are excited to tell you that we’ve added support for native Universal Purchase and Family Sharing for all of our customers.

Apple’s Family Sharing feature provides the possibility to share access to apps with your family members, while Universal Purchase allows us to distribute 1Blocker as a single purchase natively. In other words, once purchased, 1Blocker will be tied to your Apple ID. As a result, it will become available on all iOS and Mac devices associated with your Apple ID, as well as on the devices of all members of your Apple family group.

To make it work, though, we had to re-release our Mac app because of some App Store constraints. I wish there were a way to merge multiple App Store records, but there’s none. Universal Purchase and Family Sharing are tied to the bundle ID of the app. This means that the ID of 1Blocker for iOS and Mac must be the same. Historically, before Universal Purchase was even available on the App Store, Mac apps had always had a different bundle ID. So, the only way to enable Family Sharing and Universal Purchase was to release a separate Mac app. In fact, it’s what Apple recommends developers to do.

Is the new Mac app free for you?

Yes. If you already have an active 1Blocker subscription or purchased Lifetime, you don’t need to pay again.

The only step most of our Mac customers need to take to enjoy Family Sharing and Universal Purchase across all platforms, is to download the new Mac app, and you are all set. It will sync your current subscriber status and automatically unlock the features you paid for.

How to update to the new app?

We have prepared a comprehensive guide for you that explains many nuances and answers most asked questions. If you need assistance, feel free to reach out to us.
